Summer online courses at King’s presents students with the opportunity to access a summer school at the forefront of international education from anywhere in the world. King’s is a globally renowned university that offers a range of subjects across the summer portfolio, while promoting the innovative and research-led teaching that King's is known for.

King’s faculty and staff ensure a high quality of teaching across all of their programmes. Each module uses on-demand and live teaching to allow flexible and differentiated learning. The live lectures and seminars facilitate group discussion, debate and input between faculty and students.

There are two Online Undergraduate Summer School sessions in 2020. Students can study a maximum of two modules. Each undergraduate module requires a commitment of 150 hours study time over three weeks. KCL Online Undergraduate Summer School teaches a wide range of modules spanning subject areas such as health and science, law, governance, business management, culture and ancient languages.

University of Leeds is one of the UK’s largest research-based universities and a member of the prestigious Russell Group. Although Leeds International Summer School (LISS) is postponed until next year, students can still study with Leeds in 2020.

 

Choose from five programs starting on 25 May 2020. Each program lasts up to 13 weeks, consists of five courses plus an optional final assessment course for credit, and involves approximately five hours of study per week. If you want to gain credit you will pay £560 to upgrade the five courses and take the assessment. You can upgrade at any point after you join the program. Each successfully completed program (including final assessment course) is worth 10 Leeds credits (5 ECTS).

 

As part of your International Summer School experience, you will join an online community via Microsoft Teams. Here you will connect with other international summer school participants and take part in a weekly schedule of events.

 

There are five courses you can choose from:

 

*The exceptions are ‘Introduction to Intercultural Studies’ and 'MedTech' which are only available as non-credit bearing programs.

Oxford University is a world-renowned federal university with public research colleges, consisting of 38 colleges. It is the oldest university in the English-speaking world and the second oldest higher education institution in the world.

Summer program is held every year at St Anthony’s College, Oxford University (one of Oxford’s 38 colleges, https://www.sant.ox.ac.uk/). Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the program was specially shifted to online summer courses. The program will use Zoom conference software for online teaching. Teachers and students can interact during the courses and the courses will be recorded for replay. The online courses will be given by professors and lecturers in Oxford University, while staff of the local government will also be invited to make relevant government report. Students who currently studying in Oxford University for masters and doctoral degree will also be invited to share their application experience to universities in UK.

The total duration of the course is 40 hours, including 20 hours of interdisciplinary lectures (choice one from humanities & social sciences and technological innovation) and 20 hours of main courses (one of five).

Stony Brook University has many first-class scholars, and its teaching quality and research results are well-known internationally. The professors in Shixi gather among the top researchers in various fields. The famous physicist and Nobel Prize winner Yang Zhenning has been teaching at the school for 37 years. .Stony Brook University, a leader in primatology, ecology and evolution and sustainability studies offers an undergraduate Study Abroad program in Madagascar. The program is led by Dr. Patricia Wright, renowned scholar and MacArthur Fellow.

While based at Centre ValBio research station overlooking the rainforest and the rapids of the Namarona River, participants can work on an experiential learning project with experts in environmental arts, health care, conservation education, IT and engineering, water and climate, or herpetology.

Participants will also experience the culture and creativity of Madagascar. Activities include:

  • Visit remote villages with local guides to gather information, data and experience the culture
  • Weave cloth and baskets with village women
  • Observe the diversity of frogs-Ranomafana National Park has more frog species than any national park in the world
  • Spend time in Ranomafana National Park and observe the 12 species of lemur that make the park their home
