Kent State University is one of the century-old famous universities firstly approved and recognized and recommended by Chinese Education Department, ranking in the 194th in the universities of the United States reported by US News and World Report (2015). Founded in 1910, the university consists of eight campuses and has about 35000 students, in which there are more than 900 Chinese overseas students. Kent State University is one of the largest local education systems in the United States and its scale ranks in top three in Ohio. The university provides more than 270 undergraduate courses, 55 courses for master's degree and 22 courses for doctor's degree. Kent State University has been awarded as one of the “best universities in the Midwest” for many years by Princeton Review, which can prove its abundant strength in teaching and research.

The students from SUSTC can apply for one semester studying in Kent State University according to the cooperation and consultation between SUSTC and Kent State University. After the completion of the studying of one semester, the student can freely decide whether join the Kent State University 3+2 program or come back to SUSTC to complete the undergraduate education.

University of California, Irvine (UCI) was established in 1965, located in Orange County, in Southern California, southeastern 50 miles from Los Angeles. The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UT-Health) was founded in 1972. Since establishment, it develops very rapidly, and has become one of the first 5% research institute centers of medical field in the whole United States currently. The Center is consisted of SBMI, Biomedical Institute, School of Dentistry, Medical School, School of Public Health and School of Nursing. At present, the Center has more than ten thousand teaching and administrative staffs, students and resident physicians, among which there are about 5000 students, 1500 researchers on duty. The Center provides almost 20 degree and certificate courses, including health information science, biomedicine, public health, medical treatment, nursing science, and other courses.

SBMI is originated by the Center in the whole United States in this cross and integrated subject with 17 years history, and devotes itself to cultivate scientists and professionals in biomedical information and health information technology fields. Now, it has 23 full-time teachers, and 65 part-time teachers.

Stage I: Students shall study in SUSTC in the first three years. Students should complete all the courses and additional English language courses in their subject, to reach the language ability needed by the admission requirements of UT-Health.

SUSTC will recommend qualified students for Stage II.

SBMI of UT-Health will conduct assessment for all applied students, to confirm if he/she holds qualification.

Stage II: The qualified students are enrolled by SBMI as the non-degree students, to participate in the following courses and pay the tuition and fees required by UT-Health.

After students accomplish all the requirements of the above required courses of UT-Health, SBMI will issue the Certificate of Completion. And the students can achieve the Bachelor of Science of SUSTC after approved and passed by SUSTC.

Stage III: Student who has accomplished Stage II and hopes to go on with Stage II must submit an official student transcript to prove that he/she has achieved the Bachelor of Science of SUSTC, and a copy of official letter issued by SUSTC to prove that he/she has achieved the degree.

After assessing this letter and transcript, SBMI will confirm if the student conforms to the admission requirements for graduate student of SBMI. If yes, this student will study relevant courses as the student of SBMI Master of Science Program.

The admitted students will pay all the tuition and fees for participating in UT-Health.

When students complete the requirements of the Master’s degree of UT-Health, they will be awarded the Master of Science in Health Informatics.

1. A Letter of Recommendation by professor of relevant majors

2. Electronic edition of Goal Statement (in English): Why you choose this international education project, and what conditions you possess for successful completing your study

3. No lowest GPA requirement, but GPA results of the admitted students are above 2.75 in usual.

4. Total points of TOEFL iBT is above 87

II. The International Cooperation Department and Temple University shall make sure the feasibility of application, and send feedback to the student applicant.
