Temple University locates in the famous historical city Philadelphia, is a public and comprehensive research university with 135-year history. Many majors in Art, Business and Law of Temple University rank in top 10 of the United States and online MBA education ranks in the first in the United States. The university has input about 2 billion dollars for the improvement of infrastructure since 2000. More than 60% of teachers in Temple University are recruited in recent 10 years. In 2014, after the drastic selection, Temple University was selected as one of the 10 new energy research center locations of the United States by United States Department of Energy.

According to the exchange agreement between the two universities, our university can choose to send 4 exchange students each year to study at Temple University for one semester,and students pay the SUSTech tuition fee only. In addition, our school can choose to send 10 exchange students each semester to Temple University for one semester or one academic year, and students pay the Temple University tuition fee.

The HK Polytechnic University Student Exchange Programme (2021 Spring Semester)


The HK Polytechnic University(PolyU)was first established in 1937 as the Government Trade School and assumed full university status in 1994. The student population at PolyU is the largest among all publicly funded university in Hong Kong. English is the language of instruction (except language specific programmes) and courses.

Program Fees 1.       Tuition. Exchange students will pay normal tuition fees to SUSTech and be enrolled at the host institution without having to pay tuition fees.2.       Living cost. Exchange students are however responsible for the costs of living, travelling, accommodation, insurance and other incidental expenses such as the costs for applying student visas as required by the local laws. Please note that A Medical Insurance Premium is mandatory.

3.       Administrative fee of HK$550. Such fee covers visa application, courier of visa and courier of transcript etc.

Requirements 1.  SUSTech full-time undergraduates2.  Proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 80 internet based.

3.  At least 2.7/4.0 (Student is evaluated on case-by-case basis, respective Department has the right to reject application)

The Council of the Hong Kong Laureate Forum (the HKLF), supported by the HKSAR Government and launched in May 2019, is set up to organize the Hong Kong Laureate Forum (the Forum). The Forum will invite the participation of recipients of Hong Kong home-grown Shaw Prize as well as globally distinguished scientists to spend a week interacting with 200 young scientists from around the world for idea exchange and inspiration in three disciplines, namely Astronomy, Life Science and Medicine, and Mathematical Sciences.

As a collaborating university, SUSTech is invited to nominate science enthusiastic and talented individuals to join the inaugural Forum.

Note: Potential participants with strong interest but not nominated by SUSTech could launch an individual application via the portal, which would be considered as well by the HKLF Secretariat.

3.     Submission: Oct – Nov 2020

4.     Review: Q1 2021, completed submissions will be reviewed and processed by a two-tier Scientific Review Panel

5.     Final result: April 2021, final result will be announced by the HKLF Secretariat

SUSTech named China’s top 10 university for the 3rd year in a row

SUSTech named China’s top 10 university for the 3rd year in a row


On September 2, Times Higher Education (THE) released its THE World University Rankings 2021. Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) has ranked higher this year at 251-300th in the world. It has also moved up to 8th among mainland Chinese universities.

It is the first time that SUSTech has entered the top 300 of THE World University Rankings.

Ranking result

SUSTech first entered THE World University Rankings in 2018, and this is the third year in a row that it has been ranked in the top 10 in mainland China. This year, 1527 universities from 93 countries and regions, including 91 universities from mainland China are on the list. SUSTech’s improvement in rankings demonstrates its significant progress in such a short space of time.

Among the five indicators of THE World University Rankings (Teaching, Research, Citations, Industry Income, and International outlook), SUSTech continues to perform at a high level in Citations and International outlook. Industry Income rose by 38.2% and Research by 49.8%.

As a young university celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, SUSTech has been listed in several important world rankings. Times Higher Education (THE) ranked SUSTech 8th in mainland China and 33rd in Asia in their Asia University Rankings 2020. THE also selected SUSTech among the top 50 best young universities in the world, maintaining its position as the best young university in mainland China. The QS World University Rankings 2021 ranked SUSTech 14th in mainland China and 323rd in the world on debut. According to the latest monthly Nature Index ranking based on 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020 research output and published by the publisher of the international scientific research journal Nature, SUSTech ranks 58th in the world in terms of the weighted paper value and 17th in China.
